A typical Swedish massage consists of five movements.
These movements warm up the muscle tissue, release muscle tension and gradually break up muscle knots known as adhesions. Swedish massage promotes relaxation, calms the nervous system, reduces tension and anxiety.
Deep Tissue Massage
This is a type of massage that focuses on realigning deeper layers of the muscles and connective tissues. Deep Tissue massage is specifically helpful for chronic aches and pains. The movement is slower, pressure is stronger and concentrated on areas of tension in order to reach deeper muscle layers.
Deep Tissue massage works by physically breaking down adhesions, releasing pain and restoring normal movement.
A wonderful treatment for all moms to be. Prenatal massage is specifically tailored to an expectant mother. Massage for pregnant women shares the same goals of a regular massage – to relax tense muscles, ease pregnancy pains, improve circulation and mobility. This special technique is performed with the client in a side line position using pillows and cushions to support lower back, avoiding any discomfort to mom and baby.
Jodi is Certified in Raindrop Therapy. Raindrop Therapy is a healing technique using high quality, pure essential oils. Raindrop therapy combines aromatherapy, reflexology, massage and moist heat to create healing and cleansing through structural alignment to the body. The purpose of the therapy is to bring total balance, harmony and body wellness – mental, physical and emotional.
Raindrop Therapy helps align the energy centers of the body and releases them if blocked. This therapy is based on the theory that many spinal misalignments are caused by pathogens that reside dormant along the backbone.
Soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle, immobility and pain. It is a safe and effective hands – on technique that involves applying gentle, sustained pressure into the connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
As an alternative medicine therapy, Myofascial Release aims to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation and to stimulate the stretch reflex in muscles.
Lymphatic Drainage is a form of very light massage that encourages lymph flow in the body. It is particularly good for detoxification, edema, pre-and post-plastic surgery and post liposuction. It can also help with scar tissue, spider veins and acne. The lymph system is a slow-moving system of vessels and lymph nodes that is supplementary to the body system of blood circulation.
A massage therapist stimulates the lymph system with extremely light, circular pumping movements. By stimulating the lymphatic system, the therapist helps drain puffy, swollen tissues, supports the body’s immune system, helps the body heal from surgery and aids in the natural waste removal or detoxification.
